From Soul Crushing to Goal Crushing: 21 Day Fix Day 5 – Cardio Fix
Yeah! I am really getting back into the groove. The first few days have been a little over my fitness level and I am quickly getting back into the swing.
I decided to start practicing making YouTube videos, as you can see. I’m no expert, but I had fun playing with the YouTube video creation tools. How about that free domain music, heh heh heh? Ok, so it’s not the best, but as I get going I want to be able to make higher quality videos and I can’t do that without making lesser quality ones in the beginning. So bear with me as time goes on and we’ll really iron out the videos!
Today I did the Cardio Fix, which is another half hour exercise in the 21 Day Fix from Beachbody. This is one of the higher intensity workouts within the program and even some of the moves are shared with P90X and Insanity. The difference is, though, that unlike those other programs the 21 Day Fix offers relatively lengthy breaks between moves. This really helps your heart rate from skyrocketing and keeps you from complete exhaustion! At least, it helps me. Give it a try and you’ll see!
The three minute warm up is like every other warm up within the 21 Day Fix, except for Pilates Fix and Yoga Fix. By this point in the program, you’ll have the routine memorized and you don’t much have to rely on Autumn’s training to help you pass the warm up.
The bulk of the workout is 9 exercises spread throughout 4 rounds. I’m not going to detail each move, but expect to do cross jacks, high knees, skater jumps, mountain climbers, reverse lunges, burpees, lateral squats, oblique knee pulls, and the bonus round down & ups. I have to admit, I skipped the burpees altogether, because I am still proceeding with care as far as my back. Burpees are a complex move and if not done correctly, can be tough on the lower back. I’ll try to be sure to add those in next week. Thankfully, they are a slowed down version within the 21 Day Fix, unlike most other Beachbody programs which are done at full bore.
The cool down is the usual 21 Day Fix series of stretches. They definitely felt great after this higher calorie burn workout. Man, I am so excited to be back in the game. I’m feeling great and I’m already feeling like I’m starting to burn off some of the fat I’ve gained over the last several weeks of ignoring my goals.
Hey! I tried a new recipe today that I’m really excited about. It’s a salad, but not a “salad”. It’s a hit with me, because it gives me an excuse to use some red vinegar which I learned to love after eating too many Publix subs! Want to know what the recipe is? Well, I’ll tell you!
So check it out…
Grape tomatoes, avocado, cucumber, and red onion should all be diced in equal sizes and equal amounts. Frankly, just cut what you wish to eat – I’m not sure it should be stored overnight in the fridge. Anyway, grind some black pepper and add a few tablespoons of olive oil and red vinegar and toss to coat careful to not smash the avocado. If you have room for it in your nutrition plan for the day, I like to add a white cheese like queso blanco or feta.
